The Tee Up For Kids Foundation held the fifth annual Corporate Charity Golf Day at Riversdale Golf Club on February 17. The course was in great condition and 64 golfers took part (16 teams of 4), on a perfect afternoon with the majority of holes sponsored by participating companies (see below). The course lived up to its reputation, challenging most players but everyone rose to the challenge, the atmosphere throughout the afternoon was one of great enjoyment underpinned by a competitive mood.
The Foundation would like to thank sincerely all those who took part in the golf on the day, with special recognition to the many corporates and individuals who sponsored teams:
Fraser Jefferies Finance
Robert Masters & Associates
Snap Printing Heidelberg
McQueen General Insurances
X Golf / The House of Golf
L N Christie & Co
Southern Cross Computer Systems
Ray Gibson & Peter Cheers
In the early evening, majority convened to the clubhouse and enjoyed a cold drink with a BBQ dinner, and networked accordingly. Peter Cheers (Tee Up For Kids), Bernie Geary (Commission for Children and Young People in Victoria) and Jane Rowe (Mirabel Foundation) spoke about the activities of the separate organisations and how they interact to support these special kids who are in foster and residential care.
This was followed by the auction and Bernie Geary’s auctioning skills played no small part in ensuring a healthy outcome, and the bidders showed there was no stopping them when it came to such a worthy charitable cause. The auction was followed with Ian Stanley who presented the winning teams:
H2 Television – Team-1 (Harry Hart)
X Golf / The House of Golf (Ian McPherson)
Then the individual presentations for:
Nearest The Pin (3rd Hole) – Matt Trox
Nearest The Pin (14th Hole) – Ray Gibson
Straightest Drive – Mike Sakalas
On the day we raised over $11,100 from the golf event, the raffle and auction, particularly through the very generous support of those who donated auction items:
Il Duca Restaurant
Nikos Greek Tavern
Peppers Moonah Links Resort
Commonwealth Golf Club
Portsea Golf Club
The Kew Golf Club
Sorrento Golf Club
X Golf / The House of Golf
Melbourne Lord Mayors Office
To all those who participated on the day, thank you all so much for your part whether as a corporate sponsor, player, donor or as a valuable pair of hands on the day, you show you care and this does make a difference for these kids.
