More than 230 golfers ‘teed-off’ to make the inaugural Geoff Ogilvy Golf Challenge an outstanding success at Royal Melbourne on Monday.

Mathew Smith (Peninsula GC) and Jason Williams (Latrobe GC) will now be playing in the 2014 Victorian Open Pro-Am having won the event and getting their name inscribed on the prestigious trophy.

And Hepburn Springs Club’s Jonathan Barrell and Ian Rodgers are off to the 2014 British Open having won the Foundation’s supporters’ prize.

The Foundation’s International Patron and US Open champion Geoff Ogilvy was delighted with the success of the event, as was the Lord Mayor of Melbourne, The Right Hon. Robert Doyle. Both presented the prizes to the winners following a day of near perfect conditions at Royal Melbourne.

The Lord Mayor praised the work of the Foundation in supporting foster children with their educational needs, saying that education was the pathway for the children to leading fulfilling lives.

Geoff Ogilvy paid tribute to all the golfers for their support of the Foundation, highlighting the importance of the role of golfers in the charitable sector.

The event was played on the beautifully prepared West course at Royal Melbourne which was in itself a privilege for all the golfers.

The Foundation’s Chairman Ian McPherson thanked Royal Melbourne for their support of the event and also the Commissioner for Children and Young People, Bernie Geary OAM for his help and guidance with the work of the Foundation.

Mr. McPherson also thanked Golf Victoria for its support of the event and all the sponsors and contributors to the day. (See below for list of generous supporters).
